Free Children's Health Package

In Australia, around 1 in 4 children and adolescents were living with overweight or obesity in 2022, a number that’s expected to rise. If current trends continue, it’s projected that by 2050, 1 in 2 young Australians will be overweight or obese, the second highest rate among high-income countries. Even more concerning, studies show that 80% of obese adolescents remain obese as adults. With only 5.6% of young people meeting daily physical activity guidelines, and many regularly consuming too many discretionary (sometimes) foods, the need for early education around health, nutrition, and movement has never been more important. This children’s health package is designed to help change that, building strong habits early to support a healthier future for every child.

As a father of four beautiful children myself, I find Australia’s current health trends, and where they’re heading, deeply concerning. I believe in the importance of early education around health and wellbeing. That’s why I created this package, to make learning about healthy living fun, practical, easy and most importantly free for all families. Teaching these habits early helps embed them into a child’s daily routine, making healthy choices feel normal and much more likely to continue as they grow.

As part of the Australian Physical Activity Guidelines for children, it’s recommended that kids do muscle and bone strengthening activities at least 3 days a week, like running, climbing, swinging on monkey bars, push-ups, sit-ups and lifting weight lifting light weights. These activities help build strong muscles, healthy bones, and develop good motor skills. My First Exercise Program includes all of these movements and more, packed into fun, easy-to-follow activities that keep kids engaged and active. Food Group Checklist

The Food Group Checklist is a simple and helpful guide that teaches kids how to eat a balanced and healthy diet. The foundation of good nutrition is giving your body all the nutrients it needs to grow, stay strong, and feel great. One of the best ways to do this is by eating a mix of foods from each of the five food groups, in the right amounts every day. The five food groups are; Vegetables, Fruits, Grains (like bread, rice and pasta), Protein foods (like meat, eggs, beans and nuts), Dairy foods (like milk, cheese and yoghurt).

There are four different charts which show how much of each food group children should be eating for their age and gender.

  • Boys ages 4 – 8 and 9 – 11
  • Girls aged 4 – 8 and 9 – 11

Print it, laminate it, and enjoy checking off your daily foods!

Oral Health Checklist

Health is much more than nutrition and exercise. Taking care of your teeth and gums is an important part of being healthy. The Oral Health Checklist is a fun and simple way for children to stay on top of their mouth care routine every day of the week. Brushing and flossing helps remove germs and food from your mouth, which keeps your smile clean and strong. It’s a great way to make dental care easy, fun, and part of your daily routine!

By using the Oral Health Checklist, children can:

  • Build a healthy daily habit
  • Stay on track with brushing and flossing
  • Take responsibility for their own mouth care
  • Feel proud of keeping their smile clean

Print it, laminate it, and enjoy marking off your daily oral health goals!

Hydration Chart

The Hydration Chart helps children learn how to check if they’re drinking enough water by looking at the colour of their wee (urine). Staying hydrated is extremely important, as it helps your body stay cool, think clearly, move well, and feel good throughout the day. This chart is a quick and easy way for kids to keep their bodies healthy and full of energy, just by checking the colour in the toilet bowl!

By using the Hydration Chart, children can:

  • Understand the signs of dehydration
  • Learn how much water their body needs
  • Build the habit of drinking water regularly
  • Take control of their health in a fun and simple way

Print it, laminate it, and hang it in your bathroom for an easy to use hydration reference!
